I'd never thought I'd say this but...

Today I did my first pull up crunches!

I’m not becoming a better version of myself.
I’m shedding years of pretense, adaptation and conformism.
I’m not content any longer with being someone else’s idea of me.

It’s Monday, so I know there should be a song here and I know I haven’t done the book club for June (sorry!)

What’s going on? I’m busy and this blog doesn’t bring me the joy it used to.

The need it was covering is being met somewhere else, somehow else.
Still, after 4 years writing it, it’s become quite a habit so I’m still here.

Here’s the chorus of the song I’m listening to:

I know way too many people here right now
that I didn’t know last year, who the fuck are y’all?
I swear it feels like the last few nights
We’ve been everywhere and back
But I just can’t remember it all

What am I doin’? What am I doin’?
Oh, yeah, that’s right, I’m doin’ me I’m doin me
I’m livin’ life right now, man
And this what I’ma do ’til it’s over
‘Til it’s over
But it’s far from over…

- Drake, Over

I hope everyone has a great Monday and, if you celebrated, I hope you had a great Father’s Day!

I love this poem.

There are debts

06/14/10 | by Slightly [mail] | Categories: Happy - Song Monday!

There are debts to be paid
there are plans to be made
when you find that your lover
has been lying.

Little bombs get set off
in your mind, and the soft
hand of time on your body,
burns like acid.

And time blows away these things.
Do you hate when I say these things?
And all your troubles in time subside,
they go down, down, down.

There are layers to this thing,
to this old vibrating string,
and our worries can be settled
in a theory paper.

I don’t forgive you, but I know
where to put things in the hole.
In the scheme of everything, we are crazy
but no one is perfect.

And time blows away these things.
Do you hate when I say these things?
And all your troubles in time subside,
they go down, down, down.

My new favorite thing

It’s no secret I’m a material girl.
I like things.

My new favorite thing is the CEYLON Ice Tea Jug with Filter by Bodum.

It allows me to make 51 ounces of iced tea in 4 to 6 minutes, with real tea leaves (not that any other tea would enter my very snooty home).

It’s so simple too! Just add a few teaspoons of tea leaves to the filter, pour hot water to about 1/3 of the jar and let it steep the correct amount of time. Then remove the filter (obviously), and pour in cold water, a dozen ice cubes and you’re in summer afternoon heaven!
Or morning.
Or evening.

My favorite tea (today) is Ciao Bella by White August Tea Company: white tea that tastes of chocolate and raspberries…yum!

You can also make infused water in the jar, by adding cucumbers or lemon or mint leaves or anything you want, but I haven’t tried that yet. I haven’t experimented with cold water brewing either, but CEYLON offers so many possibilities, I might just go crazy and try it!

Our splendid failure
